Using social media on important field trips can accelerate the knowledge of subjects such as social studies, science, and health.  Entire grade levels have developed advanced knowledge of core subjects via social media platforms.

A powerful social media presence during a field trip will include the utilization of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.

A couple students can use Facebook live to present a live exhibition to the classroom of what life was like in the 1900s. Students inside the classroom get to be there in the now while receiving firsthand knowledge from peers.

Peer teaching is very significant because it gives classmates a new perspective besides that of the regular classroom teacher.

Students can use Twitter to deliver brief information or messages about their personal experience while on the historical field trips. Bite-sized information is more digestible then long paragraphs filled with chunky facts and observations.

Quick Twitter messages keep students back at the school excited and less bored.

A classroom with a Pinterest account can get quite visual with the information gathered from a history-oriented field trip.  Downloading pins and boards related to the style and culture practiced during the 1900s can be quite interesting in terms of the visual effect.

Utilizing the most important social media platforms to enhance your classroom’s knowledge of some historical time is a fun and exciting way to educate children. It gives students a chance to reach beyond the four walls of the classroom and become more socially active.
